2/28/2023 0 Comments Osprey transporter 40![]() ![]() Starting at £180 for the 40 litre model, the Rolling Transporter really isn't a budget option, but it's built to last. If you're after a wheeled suitcase with the knock-about toughness and practicality of a duffel bag, then this one is well worth considering. Perhaps my ideal duffel would have both wheels and shoulder straps.? If you think you'll be carrying it much then consider Osprey's Transporter range instead - very similar duffels, but with a tuck-away shoulder harness instead of wheels. This isn't a criticism of the Rolling Transporter in particular, just an acknowledgement that this type of luggage has limits. ![]() ![]() So the Rolling Transporter is great for very tame travel, but if things get a little rough around the edges, and you're carrying it for any appreciable distance, then it's less good. I think it's fair to say that this bag can take some knocks. The polymer chassis and polyurethene wheels feel good and tough too. This stuff feels really durable, and the chances of it scuffing or tearing seem remote. The main fabric is a mega-thick 840 denier nylon, with a TPU coating to help it shrug off a good bit of rain. However that weight reflects the fact that this is a really tough duffel. If you're working to the strictures of an airline weight limit then this is something to bear in mind. I honestly don't know what this is for, and the product spec sheds no light: a rolled up newspaper a folding umbrella?Īt 2.66kg (Osprey say 2.75kg - it's nice to see a brand being conservative) the Rolling Transporter 40 is hardly what you'd call lightweight. Hunt around and you'll also find, tucked neatly into a sleeve, one short webbing strap with a press buckle. A large U-shaped opening gives easy access to your contents.Outside there's one small zipped pocket (for which I've not yet really found a use) plus a transparent sleeve for a name tag (which makes sense if you're flying). External end pocket, a pocket under the lid and internal compression straps help to keep the contents organised, whilst an ID card holder ensures you’ll know which duffel is yours immediately. Transporter 40 also features a detachable padded shoulder strap to provide another way to carry, perhaps when you’re already carrying another Osprey pack. When not in use, the harness can be stowed inside a cleverly designed sleeve. The construction patterns and materials of Transporter have been chosen to provide a high level of weather resistance and the ability to withstand a lot of punishment.Ī yoked harness with sternum strap ensures that the load is carried comfortably. Very tough, TPU laminated nylon provides exceptional durability while remaining light and soft to the touch. Small enough to fit with standard EU Airline Carry-On measurements, yet big enough for your technical equipment, the Transporter 40 will quickly become a firm favourite. Transporter 40 is the perfect companion on your adventures. Representing the pinnacle of performance in expedition-style duffel bags, Transporter features premium, highly durable materials, a water-resistant design and an extremely comfortable carrying system. Transporters are tough, high-quality duffels designed to withstand the rigours of adventure. ![]()
